We were delighted to welcome Joan Power from Heritage in Schools back to our school to hold outdoor workshops with our 3rd and 4th class students. Joan is a regular visitor to our school and we learn so much from her.
Joan brought our 3rd class students on a Tree Trail and they used a leaf identification chart to identify some of the trees on the school grounds.
4th Class Workshops focused on the Sustainable Development Goals in particular No 15 (Life on Land )
Students engaged in hands-on activities to search for and identify different food sources for native animals (e.g., fruits & seeds), fostering their curiosity and problem-solving skills in the school grounds. Students also planted spring flowering bulbs to create an early food source for pollinators in the school garden.
Joan will return in November to work with our 5th class students. We are so grateful to her for this wonderful opportunity to bring our learning outdoors.
