St Peters Dunboyne GAA are proud members of the GAA Green Club Movement, whose key aim is to tackle climate change locally and be a sustainable force within the community.
With the support of local landscape and garden designer, Lisa Murphy, the club has transformed the 600m walkway around the Kepak Academy Pitch by planting pollinator-friendly plants, shrubs, and native hedgerows.
This biodiversity-rich area is now being further enhanced through a special collaboration with Dunboyne Senior Primary School ,Dunboyne Junior Primary School and Heritage in Schools expert Joan Power. Together, pupils from both the Junior and Senior school have planted 500 spring bulbs, bringing many small helping hands to a big community project. The results are already clear—our local insects and birds are thriving thanks to this attention and care.
To learn how other GAA clubs can take positive action on biodiversity, travel, water, waste and energy, explore the GAA Green Club Toolkits at learning.gaa.ie/GreenClub.
With 2,200 GAA clubs across the island of Ireland, imagine the impact if every club became a Green Club!
Thank you to Una O'Dwyer from St Peter's Dunboyne GAA and Lisa Murphy from Dunboyne Biodiversity Group for coordinating todays Action Day, and thank you also to Joan Power from Heritage in School, Dunboyne Tidy Towns and Maria Murphy for their help and support. We are proud to be part of the #GAAGreenClub Movement
